About Pelago
Pelago is a bicycle company born out of local cyclists’ needs and demand for new bicycles for daily transport and alternative travel. The idea for Pelago developed during the last decade in the city of Helsinki, Finland. The aim is to make bikes that still ride in 2050 – bikes that serve the purpose. Sustainability is a common effort and small things matter. Evidently, Pelago wants to contribute.
The company contributes to cycling with functional, aesthetic and strong products. It has learned a great deal on bike development at university, by working with local service shops and even dug out parts from junk yards or fixing bikes for friends.
The name Pelago is derived from ‘archipelago’, one of the prettiest parts of its homeland Finland. It is a constant reminder of the authenticity of the islands and the northern background that has influenced the design principles: simple, strong and practical.
