The Spire 2.0 Crossbar electric bike is a versatile hybrid, ideal for a range of activities. Whether you’re commuting to work, popping to the shops, or enjoying a weekend ride through local country parks and canal towpaths, this bike can handle it all. Compared to its predecessor, the Dawes Spire 1.0, the Spire 2.0 features several key upgrades. It comes with a 1×9 Shimano gearing system, a larger 540Wh battery for increased range, and a sleek centre-mounted handlebar display for easier monitoring of your ride.
The bike is powered by a Bafang rear hub motor, known for its excellent build quality, performance, and value for money. With 32Nm of torque, the motor delivers plenty of power, making it easy to conquer steep hills and cruise over flat terrain. The integrated 540Wh battery provides over 60 miles (97km) of assisted pedalling, and uses high-quality Samsung cells, ensuring long-lasting power and performance. The battery can be charged on or off the bike, takes just six hours to fully charge, and is easy to remove without tools for added convenience. Plus, an integrated battery lock provides peace of mind when the bike is left unattended in public.
For comfort and control, the Spire 2.0 is equipped with 1×9-speed Shimano Cues gearing and Shimano MT200 hydraulic disc brakes, which offer excellent stopping power with minimal maintenance. The 70mm travel suspension fork with hydraulic lockout helps smooth out bumpy terrain. The bike also features a Selle Royal Freeway saddle, ergonomically shaped grips, and alloy city pedals for a comfortable ride. The 700x45c Kenda tyres provide a good balance of grip and speed, while the reflective detailing increases visibility in low light. Additional features include front and rear LED lights, a rear pannier rack, mudguards, and a kickstand for added convenience.
