Cube came up with a design that takes cables into the frame via the headset, maintaining full internal cable routing but making it even neater and less obtrusive. Fixed Integrated Battery Bosch SX technology incorporates a new, lighter and more configurable battery setup. To make the most of the weight saving, Cube integrated the new battery fully into the down tube. This means it is optimally positioned for the best weight distribution and handling, as well as saving more weight by building a down tube that’s precisely the right size to fit, and without the need for an access hatch. Smooth Welding Smooth Welding isn’t easy, but worthwhile things usually aren’t. It has two advantages. First, and most obviously, it looks great: one tube seems to almost flow into the other. Second, and at least as importantly, it helps to minimise load peaks on welded areas for better frame strength and durability. Aluminium Superlite CUBE’s Aluminium Superlite starts with heat-treated 6061 aluminium, which has the qualities – high fatigue resistance, good stiffness, low weight and excellent strength – that are important for a bicycle frame. Then it’s made into double butted tubes, to reduce weight without sacrificing any of its strength. The result? Exceptionally light, strong and tough frames.
